Studio as Method began as a graduate seminar and grew into a hybrid publication: half textbook, half studio diary, with contributions from twelve practising artist-academics across Europe.
The book documents how research happens when it is not narrated as research — in the choice of brush, the way a coffee cools, the order in which paintings are turned to face the wall.
An accompanying audio series of studio recordings is published quarterly in the Journal section of this site.
